Description

The La Plata Family Centers Coalition provides direct support to families: a single mother who has a sick child and needs health insurance, parents who have lost their jobs and need help with utility bills, groceries, or housing payment.

These are our neighbors and our friends and you can help. In addition to helping families in need, we provide education and a one-stop referral source to programs within the Coalition and connections to other programs and agencies in our community.

The Family Center seeks to build community, reduce family isolation and strengthen families by linking families together to lend each other the nurturing support once found in extended family networks and small communities.

We have 4 locations in La Plata County: two offices in Bayfield, one in Durango, and one in Fort Lewis Mesa. We also have a shared office in Archuleta County. (Two sites are housed within elementary schools, and one staff person is located within the La Plata County Department of Human Services, and one person is housed within Archuleta County Human Services.) The Family Development philosophy and Strengthening Families Framework is interwoven across all programs.
